• The age of marriage in Michigan is 18 WITHOUT parental consent and 16 WITH parental consent. Parents must present their own identification when accompanying 16 or 17 year old applicants. Custodial parents must appear IN PERSON and bring their proof of custody with them.


• PRE-MARITAL COUNSELING IS NOT REQUIRED FOR PEOPLE APPLYING FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE. The sThe Wayne County Clerk will provide applicants with written educational materials on the transmission (and prevention) of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.


• Pay the Application Fee
